Tekkit!

Post by weresdrim »

Ok I know mods aren't really supposed to be on novylen because not everyone can get them...

But Tekkit is really great, it is a SMP mod pack which is deadly easy to install. It is the SMP version of the technic pack. To download it is as simply as downloading minecraft. Download, click and update EASY right?! It's also bukkit compatible so you can have all of those bukkit plugins.

I was wondering if it were possible to create another world thing that supported the mods.
Some of the mods are as follows:
IndustrialCraft2 - Machines and electricity http://wiki.industrial-craft.net/index. ... =Main_Page
Redpower2 - Better redstone (up walls I know :D) http://integratedredstone.wikispaces.com/
Equivelent Exchange - Cool items, change anything to anything eg. 1 Cobble equals 1 EMC, 1 diamond equals 8192 (I think) http://equivalentexchange.wikispaces.com/
Buildcraft - Automation at it's finest http://minecraftbuildcraft.wikia.com/wi ... craft_Wiki

The technic pack itself: http://www.technicpack.net/
Some of the yogscast's videos of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xd7KYnagZEs
Also the Equivelent exchange video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S9Pi67F ... ure=relmfu (Outdated but relevent... sorta the crafting recipes are not all true as of now)

AND PLEASE IF WE ARE INTERESTED CAN THIS NOT BE JUST, OH I LIKE IT, THEN IT DOESN'T GET IMPLEMENTED. I FIND MOST SUGGESTIONS ARE NEVER TAKEN ACTION TO.

I don't really want to force new players to download something just to connect. It does sound pretty nice, though.

I see what you mean but it's just like downloading minecraft (aside from the extra download space for the mods)

Also I forgot to add in the post, it runs how spoutcraft does, you know how you download, click on it and bam? Yeah it's like that :D

Another question: Do you have another server to run (like another router or computer (or can you run two on the same internet connection and computer)), what I mean to say is can you have the normal vanilla novylen AND a tekkit server up at the same time.

I don't really see the point in running a second server just for one plug in. Maybe a side world. Also the mass production of items would conflict with our policy of working for what you get, and I think the advantages it would give users would dramatically alter our server environment and economy. Too much stuff that would require all players to have the mod. I vote if we use it at all, it is limited to an industrialized side world that does not share inventory with survival.

Yeah, I've seen server's that stop Equivalent exchange for that exact reason. And I don't mean by a second server in that way, I mean I'm not sure if a second map would work, I've never tried so I was just suggesting the alternative but definitely no same inventory. The rest of the mods aren't so overpowered that you become god sooner or later.
