map generation

Post by rbos »

So, the Great Mapping Project is in day 3. Here's some sample output.

The map will have 12 zoom levels, which is why it's taking so long. It's about half finished the tile generation phase, so with any luck it'll be done tomorrow evening.

Once this phase is done, subsequent map updates will only change/re-render updated chunks. So I'll probably run it every few hours, or daily.

It's beautiful, but wow, does it suck up the bandwidth displaying images.

Woah, I always wanted to see what a map of the server would look like. This is awesome, Nice one rbos!

Edit: When I get past a certain zoom level seems like it loads really slow but does eventually give me an image. Still very cool.

Also, I noticed that random tiny square of land way out in the distance lol.

^What he said.
After all is said and built, more is said than built.
Do not count your glass blocks before they are smelted.
