As I've mentioned several times over the last month, /item is going to be restricted to admins soon.
Fair warning, I'll switch it over tomorrow. This is to see how it works out, and if it causes undue hardship and makes it difficult for mods to do their jobs, I'll review the decision later.
Mods will still have /tp, /tphere, /kick, /ban, and /setwarp, and those are the planned core duties for the moderator rank.
