This mod seems like it would be helpful in the battle against cheaters.
posting it for both the irony and because rbos said it didn't exist.

Personally, I think transparent texture packs are a waste of time with finding ores. The only ores you will ever find, will be the ones that have an open face. And the pickings are slim with the use of a transparent texture pack.
But on the flip, this says it does provide protection against xray. Could be something to consider.

That seems a pretty clever hack. I'd be worried about the performance hit, though.

It doesn't seem like xray hacks are common enough to justify this addon, but it's an excellent thing to keep in our back pocket should it come up.
The big worry looks to be the addon breaking and destroying all the ore in loaded chunks. We'd have to restore from backups if that happened.
