I'm officially leaving Novylen tonight. Sadly, i became sure of my decision when we were on the temp server. Actual survival with other people is much more fun than the Mod-Filled-Freebuild-with-some-zombies that the server has become. I don't mean to rage or anything, im just explaining my reasoning. I've already found a server that is as welcoming and friendly as Novylen was, but it still actually feels like an SMP, and not just a building server. Im sorry it came to this, and don't get me wrong, i had tons of fun. Yet, Rob's magical server of wonders has lost its sheen, and its time to move on to a server that actually deserves the title of a Survival Multiplayer server...

But yes, I definitely see his point. Resources are so common now, that it doesn't seem like SMP anymore. But I guess it could just be said, "Goto novylen.net". Worse, I certainly am empathetic towards your cause.

It's a problem with any long-term server - unless there are regular resets, resources are going to be pretty common. There's not a lot I can do about that, except try to make sure rare stuff stays reasonably rare, by giving it places to get used up.

pvpland is great in that regard.

You guys had the Worse Doughnut on your server?! That guy is a legend on AQWorlds (the MMO i work for) check him out!

He has all of the best stuff, he draws for the game on certain events, and even helped develop half of the most recent weekly releases! When we first stared running the game, he helped to code for nearly all of the armors and for all of the first levels even before he had an account for himself! I know him personally from working with him on certain events in-game, and he's even flown down from NY to Florida for a consulting job once, the guy's freaking amazing for a 15 year old.

Now, more importantly...

He left?! D: (note, i only use frown-ey faces in the event of extreme sadness)

If you guys want, i can talk to him about coming back, he might once he sees a familiar face.

Though I'd like suggestions on how to make things more exciting/interesting from a gameplay perspective. It seems inevitable that a minecraft server builds up a big chunk of resources, and then the survival challenge is much reduced.

I recently doubled the price of repairs, might eliminate it entirely. It's a convenience thing that doesn't really do much for gameplay.

Lol perfect timing, I've had a free account back when me and the rest of my friends had a freebuild, but i just upgraded it a few hours ago. Oh, and the user name is simply J6.
